Josef Průša (born 1990) comes from Havlíčkův Brod. He studied applied informatics at the University of Economics. At the age of 19, he began designing 3D printers, and in 2012, he founded Průša Research.

Prusa Mendel

Josef Průša built his first 3D printer in 2012 under the name Prusa Mendel and it can be considered the "Ford Model T" of 3D printing. The Prusa Mendel was relatively easy to assemble, repair and modify. The world of 3D printing has thus opened up to a much wider audience.

Josef Průša lectures on 3D printing and open-source hardware. He teaches Arduino at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, and he has also taught at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.

With the onset of the COVID 19 coronavirus pandemic, Průša Research has been actively involved in face shield printing, which it offers free of charge to all hospitals, general practitioners, dispensaries, dentists, pharmacies, police officers, teachers and other professionals.

According to Průša, the whole world prints.
