Allstar Refjúdží Band

I´ll have a beautiful life (regie: Pavel Koutecký, Tsjechië, 30 min)
Thursday 31 March 19.00

A short documentary by Pavel Koutecký that maps the several months long stay by actors from Prague's Archa Theatre in the refugee camp in Bělá pod Bezdězem. The collaboration between the professionals from Archa and the asylum seekers turned into the performance of At 11:20 I Will Leave You! The Archa Theatre has worked with refugees for a long time. One of the goals of the performance is to make the refugee's reality more accessible to the general public so as to change its mostly negative view of this issue. Against the backdrop of preparations and rehearsals for the production, Pavel Koutecký shot profiles of several asylum seekers. Some of the original camp residents have in the meantime become members of the Allstar Refjúdží Band, whom some of you may have seen on the opening night of our festival. This is a film about the search for a home in a foreign land and the therapeutic function of artistic expression.

After the screening, Archa's artistic director, Ondrej Hrab, will gladly field questions you may have about it, but also about how Archa Theatre is trying to put engagement and community arts on the Czech cultural agenda.
